tail
claws on my feet clicking against the dark stone floor.
I saw her. And it was like everything else ceased to exist. There was no sea of sand, no zeelk, no sky or sun or cliffs. There was only her, shining like a single star in darkness. Shining like a beacon, a sign, a glorious explosion of destiny. My mate. Every part of my body pounded with this new reality, sacred strength surging through me, culminating in a vicious scream that tore from my chest as my irkdu plunged forward.
I’m in trouble.
His nose was largely flat, flaring open and down like a cat’s.
Then he opened his mouth, his voice somewhere between a growl and a purr, and said, “Zeezee.”
For one thing, it was huge. And Buroudei’s whole body, besides his head, was hairless. The copper sheen of his skin faded into rich brown and black at his groin, the same way it did at his forehead, feet, and the tip of his tail. There didn’t seem to be any foreskin that I could see – the whole shaft and head was one smooth, dark organ. It thickened at the base, with two smaller spikes of flesh on either side, mimicking his three-part tongue. It was almost trident-like.
Little half-human, half-kangaroo gladiator babies?
Zeezee liked me a whole lot.
“Why do you think the Lavrika told you I was your mate?” Buroudei’s answer was instant. “Clearly because you are perfect. And you are the perfect mate for me.”
“I’m in love with you.”
“Forgive me, Zeezee. You have broken open my world and put it back together again. Your words have forged futures I never thought I’d live to see. It is difficult to speak.”
