I’d give each taxpayer the ability to direct 1 percent of their taxes to a specific department, be it Veterans Affairs or the Forest Service or the National Endowment for the Arts, and then have a thank-you video from employees who work at that department expressing their gratitude. They could describe what they are working on for the following year so you get a sense of progress.
