The term technical debt is often used to describe the problems caused by tactical programming. By programming tactically you are borrowing time from the future: development will go more quickly now, but more slowly later on. As with financial debt, the amount you pay back will exceed the amount you borrowed. Unlike financial debt, most technical debt is never fully repaid: you’ll keep paying and paying forever.
