Imagine if the Industrial Revolution had been run as a collective effort between all of the people and all of the planet. No slavery, no child labour, no exploitation, no enclosure, no despoiling the earth. And before you say that could never happen, and the proof is that it didn’t happen – yes, I know, but, as I said right at the start of this essay, the past is what we learn from.
