“You know your fucking audience. They’re about a step up from NASCAR fans. They’re God-fearing, beer-drinking, Bible-thumping, country-loving assholes, and they won’t like this.”

Fucking Grady. He’s going to out me less than an hour after waking up in bed with me for the first time.

“You want there to be an us?” He turns to look straight at me and then places his hand on the side of my face, preventing me from looking away. “There was always an us.”

If only he knew—he’s beautiful, inside and out. Always has been.

“Yeah, maybe you should start knocking. Unless you want to see a lot more of my dick.”

“You’re not just anything, Grady. You’re everything.”

“I want to go to a bar with my boyfriend and hold his hand. I want to be able to kiss him in public without anyone batting an eye. I want to fucking love the man I’ve been in love with for years. Out. Loud.”

You and me, we’re a given, not a choice. It’s you and me forever, no matter what happens or what is thrown at us. Do you hear me?”

“I need a change. I have to stop living for my parents and the fans. I need to do this for me.”

I love playing baseball. I do. But if baseball can’t love me back for who I am, then we need to break up.

“Are you fucking kidding me? I asked her for your hand in marriage before I got down on one knee. I don’t have a death wish.” My eyes widen. “You asked Jenny?” “Of course, I did.”

“Gay with you?” I look up at him, amused. “You better not be gay with anyone else.”

I really didn’t want it to end because their love is beautiful to me.
