“There’s death in her eyes that doesn’t blink away. She’s broken, Rhordyn.”
“Sometimes I wish her screams weren’t silent, then maybe you’d notice.”
“Everything is nothing if you’re in pieces, High Master. I think that’s something even you can understand.”
Little does she know, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for her. Except let her go.
“Are you trying to poison me against my promised by insinuating he’s hiding something?” “No,” he murmurs, knocking on the stone again, shifting a little. “You have big, wide eyes. You can see perfectly fine without my help.”
“There is nowhere you can hide. Nowhere you can go. Even if this were to stop beating,” he says, threading his hand over my rioting heart, “I’d follow.”
“A smart woman once told me that everything is nothing if you’re in pieces.”
“You’re going to go to war with him? Over me?” He doesn’t blink or flinch. “I’d strike the fucking world down for you.”
“Are you afraid?” he asks, and I catch a glimpse of sharpened canines. “Should I be?” “Yes.” He brushes my hair off my shoulder with a look that pilfers my soul. “I’m far worse than anything you’re imagining.”
