Before Burlakoff was promoted, when Mike Babich was temporarily running sales, he asked that reps submit weekly written reports on their contacts with top sales targets—at Kapoor’s direction, Babich said. Babich received these reports by email, and he said he or his assistant would regularly print them out for Kapoor. In other words, Insys created a system where the paper trail led not only to corporate but directly to the top of the hierarchy.
