Wrath ran a hand through his hair, the action drawing my attention to cuts on his knuckles I hadn’t noticed before. “Did you have to fight wolves?” I asked, beckoning him to come closer. “Please. Let me see that.” Reluctantly he did, offering me his injured hand. “Why isn’t this healing?” “I punched through the realms.”
“And he is her fate. As she is his. ‘As above, so below.’ They are the balance. Light and dark. One fallen from above, and one created in the underworld below.”
“Your skin is tinged blue, Emilia. Had you not kicked me awake while showing signs of returning, I would have come for you and obliterated every creature in that realm. I’d have taken you from there, then wiped the entire realm from existence.”
“I am going to murder and maim my entire court. This whole fucking realm if someone interrupts us again. I hope you won’t mind ruling over a kingdom of nothing.”
Sometimes loving someone was shown by letting them go, not clutching them closer.
“Standing back so someone can walk the rest of their path alone is often the most difficult part, especially when you care.”
