Noah fell back onto his forearms. “Are you here to kill me?” Adam moved closer, head cocked like a German Shepherd. “No.” Disappointment settled inside Noah. “Are you following me?” Another step. “Yes.”

“Don’t you live in a mansion on the other side of town?” Adam shook his head with a smile. “No, my dad does. I live in a studio apartment on the other side of town.” “And why can’t you go sleep there?” Adam shrugged. “Because you’re not there and I want to be with you.”

“You talk a lot.” Noah flushed. “Sorry, I guess I just get caught u⁠—” Adam kissed him. “It’s the hottest fucking thing ever. Never stop.”

Adam kissed the top of his head. “Yeah. But I’m the little spoon tonight.” “We’ll look ridiculous,” Noah mused. “To who?” Adam asked.

The idea of Noah getting beat up caused a strange feeling to fill his chest. “I will disembowel anybody who so much as messes up your hair.” Noah pretended to swoon. “Who says romance is dead?”

It felt like he’d met Noah a million years ago and they’d been separated all this time. And now, he was back. Back where he belonged. With Adam.

“Fine. Shower, then breakfast. Then sex. Then lunch. Then sex. Then another shower. Then work.” Noah rolled his eyes. “I’m only willing to commit to food and a shower. The rest is to be negotiated on a case by case basis.” Adam made a sulky face. “This is why you’re going to end up chained to my bed.”

“You are the single most important thing to me. You’re the only thing that matters to me in this whole fucking world. Tell me you believe that.” Noah stared at him with wide eyes, swallowing audibly. “I believe you believe that.” Adam kissed his forehead, pulling him back into his arms and holding him tight. “Then I’ll just have to prove it to you.”

“I’m just saying, killing three guys in one night would have been cool,” Avi pouted. “But, instead, you get to kill twenty guys during the day, with your brothers, as a family,” August said. “Other families just have barbeques,” Archer said, tone dripping with sarcasm.

“What choice did he have? What choice did any of them have? They knew I’d never let you go.”

“Like, I don’t know what love feels like, but I know that whatever I feel for you, I’ve never felt for another person—ever. So, who’s to say that’s not love?” “I don’t know,” Noah said. “Maybe it is.” “So, maybe I love you.” Noah shook his head, a stupid grin forming on his face as he leaned across the console until they were nose to nose. “Then maybe I love you back.”
