I turn to see his creature heading our way. With every step it takes on more of a solid form until I’m staring at a fully grown Doberman-looking creature, with void eyes and a vicious set of razor sharp teeth in his jaw on full view as it appears to pant like a real dog.
How did I know the creature just wanted an ear scratch like Brutus is getting? I have no clue, but he whines and vibrates in pure pleasure when I do, his tongue lolling about as his void eyes shut in pleasure at all of the attention I’m giving him.
They’ve all learned a million times over to never, ever touch a Draven nightmare and you were just loving the scariest goddamn bastard North has. That’s what has them fucking quaking in their boots.”
He shakes his head slowly and as I walk away from them, calling Brutus back over to my side, I hear Kieran mutter to Gryphon, “You’re in so far over your head, she’s going to eat you all alive and I’m going to enjoy the show.”
“Can we kill North’s secretary? Can I kill her and hide her body, please? Are we sure we’re the good guys? Can we be bad for, like, five minutes? I don’t even need five whole minutes, I’ll have the bitch out in a spilt fucking second.”
He murmurs quietly to me, “You make me proud to be your Bond. Even when you hate us, your backbone, endurance, and integrity is unmatched.”
A growling sort of gasp rips out of his throat as his eyes flash to white, his legs stumbling as I trigger his bond to take over, and when he looks at me again, there’s nothing of the surly and scowling man left. Only the bond. He takes a deep breath, looking around the room as though he’s not sure where he is anymore, and I get frustrated quickly, enraged that he’s not taking me and claiming me right now. “Mine.”
Burn them. There’s a small moment of quiet in my head and then his answer comes through, I’ll burn the whole manor down if you want me to. We can go back into your room for tonight, and I’ll move rooms in the morning.
He tucks his face behind my ear where Brutus usually sleeps and murmurs, “I will tear that girl apart with my bare hands for doing this to you, but I’m a selfish asshole. I’m glad it was me and not one of the others.”
His hands reach out to cup my cheek. “If you call yourself a monster again, I will put you over my knee and spank that attitude right out of you. You’re perfect. Having a Top Tier Gift, no matter how rare, doesn’t make you a monster. I’ve known a lot of monsters, you’re not one.”
