“Don’t fucking say that shit. You just saved us all. A monster wouldn’t do that, and every last one of the people here that are saying that shit are ungrateful, spineless assholes who would burn their saviors at the stake just because they’re stronger than them. Gutless and jealous fucking assholes.”
“I never doubted that or you for a minute, Sweetness. Fuck the rest of them, I already told you that it’s us against the world.”
I mean, they don't know about the other things I can do. They don’t really know anything.
“We don’t want you here, Ardern. Go find some catnip to keep yourself busy.”
“They don’t know half of what I can do, Bond. If they did, they wouldn’t dare call me or mine a monster.”
He leans down to brush his lips against my cheek softly, a small lifeline to let me know that none of his attitude has anything to do with me, and then he stalks into my room, shutting the door firmly behind him.
If they all want to talk shit about me being a monster, then they can deal with my teeth when I rip their throats out. Metaphorically, of course.
“She didn’t pull it but… she’s stronger than she makes out. Whatever level you’ve guessed she’s at… double it. Triple, maybe. It was easier to get into your head than it was for me to knock her out. That’s a lot of fucking power, North.”
I spend most of the time with Atlas arguing with him because my bond wants to prove to you that I’m better for you than him.
“Over my dead fucking body is my Bond paying for dinner. Who do you think raised me? Put that away before you embarrass me any more.”
There’s a lot we don’t know about each other, a lot that you’re choosing not to tell me, and a lot that I’m not saying as well. We’re both guarded and trying to keep each other while we’re carrying baggage.”
“I really need to figure out how to get the chip out. Once that’s dealt with… I’ll have to leave.” He nods and tucks me in even closer. “We. We’ll have to leave. You’re not getting rid of me, Sweetness. Not ever.”
“Then there’s the small fact that the Resistance knew you. You didn’t run away from your Bonds. I’ll bet every last fucking dollar I have that you didn’t. You ran from something else, and when you were dragged back here, you were terrified you’d been tracked. You kept saying it, over and over again. Things will go bad if you’re forced to stay here. Well, we’re listening now, Fallows. Let’s see what’s coming after you.”

“Yeah, because Sharpe threatened North! That’s not killing someone, that’s taking out the trash.”
It’s as though with enough money, nothing is ever permanent.
“You could go there naked and I would still worship you… everyone else would just have to die. A sacrifice I’m prepared to make.”
“Oh, my girl likes that? You want me to kill everyone who dares to look at you? I will. I’m not a good man, not like the rest of your Bonds. I’m good for you, and fuck the rest of them. If you want blood, Sweetness, I’ll give it to you. I’ll give you whatever you want.”
“Good because I’m going to give it everything and more. The second you’re ready… everything, and that’s a promise, Sweetness.”
“You think you’re the only one fighting your bond? This is all mine. Know that before you walk out of here because Bonded or Unbonded, you’re mine.”
This is all mine. Mine. He’s mine; his room, his bed, all of it belongs to me. I’m going to find this woman and I will bleed her out, present her lifeless body to my Bond, and show him what happens to anyone who touches what is mine.
a Bond with only one thing on his mind. Claiming me, tying me to him, owning me, and having me forever because there is no me without him. We were made from the same dying star, put on this earth to search one another out and bind ourselves to one another for all of eternity.
Burn them. There’s a small moment of quiet in my head and then his answer comes through, I’ll burn the whole manor down if you want me to. We can go back into your room for tonight, and I’ll move rooms in the morning.
And the man can eat.
“Such a greedy fucking pussy, taking me all the way down like a good girl. Tell me you’ll be good for me from now on, give me this pretty Bonded pussy whenever I want it. Let me fuck you raw whenever you need to be reminded of who you belong to, because this is mine. Your bond told me I belong to you. Well, baby, this is my fucking pussy to use and fill up whenever I want to as well. You want me, this is what you get.”
“If that’s who you need to believe I am right now, Nox, then I won’t try to change your mind. If you need me to be the villain in your story to get through your day, then I’ll accept that. You’re not going to be the villain in mine though, no matter how hard you try. I have a much better view of you now and I won’t give you the satisfaction of being the big bad in my world.”
I barely knock twice before Sage rips the door open and flies at me, a sheet wrapped around her body in a very deja vu sort of way, it seems she’s also a fan of the burrito escape route.
“Wake up and kiss me goodbye, Bonded.”
“We don’t deserve you. None of us do. We’re all fucking this entire Bond up, and you deserve so much fucking more,” he murmurs, his voice breaking, and I swallow around the lump in my throat. “Don’t think like that, Gabe. You don’t know about all of the terrible things I’ve done.”

“She’s a Soul Render, asshole. The brain melting? It’s a parlor trick to her, the lesser of her powers. It’s how she leaves people to wallow in all of the shittiest parts of their souls. Her real shit? Ripping their souls the fuck out. Instant death, a billion times more powerful than North fucking Draven because he’s limited to touch. Oli has no limit. Nothing. The infinite weapon.”
I thought that seeing Silas Davies again, the man responsible for all of my torture and degradation at the hands of the Resistance, would be the greatest punch in the gut possible... and it is bad. But finding Atlas’ father standing next to him is worse.
