The psychobiological, social, and spiritual impact of growing up in patriarchal water means we swallow mainstream ideas about women without realizing it. Even when these ideas are damaging, we as women become versions of the gender stereotype. The way the culture looks at us is the way we see ourselves. The way the culture feels about us is the way we feel about ourselves. Internalizing patriarchal ideology isn’t a cognitive process.
