“There is no he. There’s nobody. And if this is what everyone means when they rave about alpha males, I’ve decided I don’t want one. I’m going to become a spinster cat lady instead,”
“When you’re finished eating, I want to fuck your face and cum down your throat. I think if you’re old enough to swallow my seed you’re old enough for a glass of champagne, don’t you think?”
“I’m not a good man, Ivy, but I can be good to you.”
“How bad could you be?” I echo my earlier question. “Jaywalking and unpaid speeding tickets?” I ask hopefully. He lifts his head and contemplates me. “Do you want the truth or do you want me to lie to you?” I trail a finger down the slope of his nose before tracing his lips. Placing my hand against his cheek, I whisper, “Lie to me.” He turns and presses a kiss against my palm. “Parking tickets and jaywalking,” he answers softly before laying his head back against my heart.
“See, there’s the silver lining. I happen to know of a devastatingly handsome man who is looking for a wife.”
“So you decided to take my safe haven and destroy it?” “I wanted to be your safe haven!” I yell at her.
“I fell in love with a monster.” “And he loves you right back.”
“There is no purging you, Ivy. For fuck sake. You might listen to the words I tell you, but you’re not hearing a damn word I say. There is no you and me anymore, only an us.”
“She needs a name.” “Hmm…What about Iris?” Atlas murmurs. I chuckle lightly. “After the flower you stalked me with.” “I did not stalk you. More like I professionally pursued you.”
He let a little light into his world and I let a little dark into mine and somehow, within the shadows, we fit.
