“You can love a monster, it can even love you back, but that doesn’t change its nature.”
Evil can just as likely wear a suit and Rolex as it can dirty jeans and a wifebeater.
Thank you for looking after me, Atlas. I’m lucky you decided you wanted to be my friend.” I smile.
“I don’t want to be your friend, Ivy. I want to fuck you.”
“We’ll see about humility, little one, when you’re tied to my bed begging me to fuck you. And you will, Ivy, mark my words.”
“You’re mine. You might not understand it right now, Ivy, but you will. I’m not a good man, but I can be good to you.”
“We’re like fire and gasoline, Atlas. This is gonna explode in our faces.”
To her, I’m just a man with more money than sense. But to the underworld, I’m a fucking king. Staring at her now, I know without a doubt I’ve found my queen.
“You got a little something on your hand, boss,” he remarks. “Hmm…I know. It was dessert.” “Was it good?” Oh my god. Stop talking. Please stop talking. “Oh yeah but then I always did have a thing for cherries.” I’m gonna kill him in his sleep.
“Extension? Because your place isn’t big enough? What the heck could you possibly need that you don’t already have? An airport?” I laugh. “A library. My sweet Ivy likes to read.”
“I don’t do half-assed things. This”—he indicates between the two of us before gripping my hips and pulling me against his erection—“is about as real as it gets. I’ve never felt about anyone what I do for you. I do not give one single fuck how fast it is. When you know, you know. It’s you and me, Ivy. Yesterday, today, tomorrow.”
“You think you’re my peasant?” he snarls. “If you weren’t so damn stubborn you’d see you’re my fucking queen.’’
“I hate you.” “No, you don’t. You might want to but you can’t because I’m in your fucking veins just like you’re in mine.”
You can’t love only the parts of me you like. That’s not how this works. Hell—love, hate, anger, lust—it’s all just some abstract image in my head where all the pieces meld together in a fucked-up way to create something beautiful. That’s what we have, what we are—a fucked-up mess. But no man will ever love you like I do, Ivy. I’d die for you, kill for you, burn the world to ash if you asked it of me, but I’ll do it with you by my side.”
