She was tired and had already given them their shot this morning, so I wrapped my arm around her, shielding her with my body, and held a hand up to block their lenses. She grumbled, but didn’t try to break away, so I took that as a win. Maybe she was finally allowing me to take care of her as I saw fit. A wave of satisfaction and pleasure at her cooperation stirred in my chest.
