If I’m ever to court Tamsin properly, I’m going to have to step down from our plans of conquest and meet her as a true ally.
I mutter the words into my horn as I drain the last drops: “I don’t want to dull the memory of her.”
“He speaks as a jealous man,” I grumble. “A woman cannot be ruined like a sheaf of spoilt parchment.
“If I were to ruin you, princess, you would have no hesitation about it.”
“You are the ones who came looking for us,” I hiss at him. “Now that you’ve found us, are you regretting that we have mouths and hands that can grasp you as you grasp us?”
Mine, whispers a sharp-toothed creature from deep inside me. The deeper the night, the harsher her voice. All mine.
“For mercy’s sake, Tamsin, hold your tongue.” “I would rather hold yours,” I whisper with a drunken grin. “Between my thighs.”
Only I don’t want it to end. I don’t want to go anywhere. This, being close to him like this… it feels so easy. Simple. It’s impossible to see any kind of sin in it when our bodies fit so naturally together.
God, I want him so much. I know I won’t ever find another man like him, capable of both calm composure and feral protectiveness, who forgives my own propensities towards excess. Who forgives me for everything. Who says my name with reverence.
“It is the wisdom of your creative power,” he says. “You remind mankind that women are the ones who animate them. Not the hand of the carpenter.”
“It’s a strange god that must birth himself a second time,” Thrain rumbles. “Perhaps he knew he would not be entirely real until he was birthed by a woman.”
Vanir, praises the beast in me. Goddess. Protect her. Protect her.
God, to hear him like that… those sounds are for me; I’m the one making him lose his head like that.
Where Thrain is crushing and irresistible, Ivar is all sharp edges and stings of pleasure, and Olaf… he is solemn, leading me on, controlling the pace.
