You rarely see this angry tone in Jesus, and when you do, it’s always directed at the religious leaders, who bore a unique culpability in Israel’s spiritual state. You do see Jesus say hard things on a regular basis—uncomfortable things, unpopular things, the kinds of things that eventually got him killed. But most of the time, his tone was tender and wise.
