“Let me take care of you,” I commanded. I wasn’t going to let her refuse this, I couldn’t. My Lion nature was begging me to look after her and I didn’t dare let my thoughts latch on to what that meant. I just had to do this. I could no easier stop the sun from rising than stop myself from helping her.
"I have plenty of practice at being unwanted," I muttered, looking at a patch of wildflowers as I tucked my hair behind my ear, my fingertips tracing over the ridge of the moon mark I'd been given when I was mated to Ethan.
I let him pull me against his chest and wrap his arms around me, but his words hurt almost as much as Ethan's behaviour did. He wanted a girl just like me. He just didn't want me. Because I was just the broken little pup who had ruined his life and gotten him locked away down here. I was scarred and flawed and endlessly aching for him and I was clearly never going to be who he wanted.
“But we'd better be quick, because your grumpy old dad is watching."
Sin looked up at him in surprise and Roary took the opportunity to swipe the white paint right down the centre of Sin's face. I burst out laughing as Roary darted away from Sin's retaliation and I managed to slap my brush down firmly against the Lion's ass as he made his escape. "Hey - I was on your side, little pup! What gives?" Roary demanded with a laugh.
“They’re…taking the inmates’ Orders away?”
