In some sense, it seemed to her that consciousness was not the driver but rather along for the ride. Perhaps her unconscious mind made decisions and let her conscious mind take credit for them. That wasn’t contrary to the notion of free will. Her unconscious mind was just as much a part of her as her conscious mind.
