Books provided a secret door to escape through – something she had often been grateful for in her life.
Reading was her other escape. Another world she could step into and be surrounded by characters brought to life on the page. She could meet untold people and live a thousand exciting lives through the pages.
The books opened a door for me to escape into a different world. One where I was the hero. I could also convince myself that it was research. Research into a life I wanted to lead, people I wanted to be like.
