The Beautiful Little Things

I also can’t wait to soak up spending as much time as possible with you all myself. A mother’s need for connection with her children never ends, no matter what age they happen to be.

What is it about life that we are all always so eager and willing to line up for the next race? When the one we’ll never, ever win is that which we run against ourselves.

Life is awfully frustrating sometimes, isn’t it? There is no one clear set of directions or ever a single path.

You can make plans, and hope for the best, but if the universe has something else in store for you, then you simply roll with it.

Yes, there have been times in the past and even recently when you have given me deep and abiding headaches. I would be lying if I said that wasn’t the case. But in the end, you have made me proud far more than not.

The greatest honour of my life has been to be your mother. And my greatest reward is knowing that I will have just a teeny bit of immortality because you will still be of the world, even if I am not there.

When I am gone, mourn me a little, but please then move on, knowing that I am still close by, still loving you as much as I do in the flesh.

Remember, they always say it’s the little things in life that are important. Because when you look back, you realise they were the big things.

There is very little point in wasting days of your life over things you cannot change. No point in being negative, angry, upset or bitter. It’s a waste of time and energy. Rather, focus on the positive – and what you have right now

Just focus on the next step. And the thought struck her that so often lately, it seemed she’d been focusing on the steps two or three ahead rather than the one directly in front of her, distracted by the noise all around, instead of just taking one step at a time and pushing through her route.
