There it was. Finally, Jakob’s shell broke. He’d probably never give in to a full-hearted apology, opening up and baring his soul in a teary monologue. But he didn’t need to. Evie saw it clearly now, and maybe Kassie already had, given her professional training and everything. They didn’t want any of that from Jakob. They just wanted a moment of honesty from him.
