“Oooo, Bad Kitty, are you scared you’ll be beaten by little old me?” Aurora’s eyebrows flew up. “That’s fighting talk. I’ll take your bet and you’d better be prepared to sleep on stones and shiver like a plucked chicken tonight.”

“Don’t ruffle Kitty’s fur if you don’t want to play, Evie. Go, you have a bet to lose.”

“Nope. It’s you who will be weeping soon. Don’t worry I can make you an ointment out of fresh boar dung that will ease the pain. I’ll even smear it on for you, nice and thick.” “You wouldn’t dare.” That made Aurora grin. “You’ll beg me to do it.”

“I’m not winded, I’m just breathing with enthusiasm. We’ve been walking for what feels like forever and mostly in silence.

Aurora felt a little bad about the half-truth but it was way better than blurting out, “You’d make me too horny to sleep.”

“Gods above and below…I don’t know where you kids get these ridiculous notions from! There was a time we shifters hardly bothered with clothing. But all right, I won’t offend Aurora with the sight of my saggy tits. Happy now?”

“It wasn’t a pretty sight,” Aurora agreed. “Neither was him flashing me his old man bits when he showed me why he couldn’t walk.” Nesa who was in the process of taking another long drink snorted liquid through her nose and mouth and started coughing.

“If your kisses are anything to go by it would seem you’re more appreciative about the hot water and bed than you are about me saving your life. If that’s true your priorities are really skewed.”

“I already have everything I need.” Aurora held up a hand and wiggled her fingers for Evie to see. “I can do things with these you wouldn’t believe.” Evie bit her lip to keep herself from giving that statement the sort of reply it was begging for.

Aurora’s lips twitched in amusement and she touched the spot Evie kissed. “You’re a dangerous woman.” “Nonsense, you’re the one with claws. All I have are these adorable wings and I have it on good authority they make me look angelic, so how could I possibly be dangerous?” Evie asked batting her eyes, all wide-eyed innocence.
