The way he slightly leaned forward each time I spoke just to show his interest. The way he paused mid-bite to listen to whatever I had to say next. The intensity of his gaze as he zeroed in on my face, watching my mouth as I spoke before bouncing back up to my eyes. He’d wait a beat or two to be sure that I was done before he replied to whatever I said.
“How do I explain how I feel without scaring you off? Explain that something inside of me recognizes something inside of you? That your spirit feels familiar.
That rather than tearing it down, I’d like nothing more than to join you inside of it, so you won’t always be alone.
