Everything was so twisted.
But perhaps love was an otherworldly entity like Death. And since Tella had now opened herself up to the possibility of Love, it would not stop coming after her, and it felt far more powerful than Death.
Humans were selfish creatures. The stars had witnessed it again, and again, and again.
It seemed her story might someday have a happy true ending after all.

Tella always thought her sister had underestimated her – but maybe she was the one who had underestimated Scarlett.
She was still furious with him. She was going to make him regret walking away from her. But her heart seemed to have forgotten that. It tripped and skipped and beat out an unwieldy rhythm as she opened the note he’d left for her.
