A grin spread across my face until it physically hurt where I still had bruises.
“Seriously, Rio. Right now. You’ve got to breathe, woman.” I pushed my lips together to keep from snorting in delight. Christ, he really had no idea who he was messing with.
“Oh my God. Grant!”
“God damn, I’ve missed you, Blaze. So much.”
“Don’t you dare put me down, mister. Not yet.” That last part came out in a shaky whisper, but then she found strength in her intention again. “Not ever.”
“But don’t you know I’d give you the world if you asked for it?
I bent and kissed her softly. “Not as much as I’ve missed you, Ms. Gibson.”
I grinned and quickly pecked her smooth forehead. So maybe everything would be okay after all. Pretty soon, all this shit would be ugliness of the past—a good thing, since all I wanted to think about was the future with this incredible beauty.
“I just mean that I’m done fighting this, Grant. I’m done fighting us.”
“I was so scared, Grant. So scared you wouldn’t come back to me.”
I debated tossing her over my shoulder, stomping back to the bedroom, and fucking every last ounce of sass from her perfect body and warp-drive mind.
