Now the timing was perfect, she was here, and so was I. Only I wasn’t alone. And the best part? She didn’t know that we knew. She didn’t know that we were coming for her.

The only thing I knew for certain was that I liked learning about people. The way their brains worked, how much was chemical and how much was societal, and I wanted to understand why we did the things we did. Why we made the decisions we made.
I saw the little monster again. The one who breathed fire and made people see her. I’d needed to touch her. I couldn’t think past that.
