Letting shit go is more cost-effective than fighting for one’s principles sometimes.”
“Have you ever been on a sugar-free diet? You need that sweet taste so bad, but after a few days, the craving starts to subside, you stop getting headaches, and after a week you feel wonderful. Then one day, a few weeks later, you have a piece of cake and it’s delicious, but it gives you a stomachache or a headache. When you think of just the taste and the sugar rush you can easily become addicted to it again, but the indigestion and migraine come along with the high, so do you want to have a piece of cake?”
“I know. I know. I get it. I suppose I’m not at that point yet. I still need chocolate cake and welcome the indigestion.”
And it turns out that apologizing really does set you free. It’s not about the person you’ve hurt; it’s about letting it go so you can move on. And most importantly, it’s about acknowledging when you are wrong, which I have been many times. Learning from your mistakes is a powerful thing.
