The wording of the second part of day 3 is interesting: “And God said, ‘Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth’ ” (Genesis 1:11). This could imply that God starts life going and allows its potential to develop from there. Think of all the variations on the theme “dog” that have developed, or been bred, originally, probably, from wolves.
