our family we have always liked to read and keep books. A Christmas without a book for a present is a disappointment.
His snickarbod (Swedish for “toolshed”) gradually became what I believe today is called a “man cave.” In Swedish we also now sometimes call it mansdagis—a male kindergarten, which makes me smile and which feels like an entirely appropriate word.
To be grateful and happy for a present when you first receive it is something different, because that gratitude is not connected to the thing itself but to the giver who gave it to you.
