There are many possible interpretations which can be drawn from the allegory, especially when one considers the possibility of a prisoner breaking free and stepping out of the cave into brilliant, sunlit reality for the first time. But one of these is the ontological concept that the real world of three dimensions of space and one of time in which we live is, itself, not the whole thing.
