We’ve never uttered a single word to one another… But sometimes I feel like nobody knows him better than I do.

Delusional ?

“I don’t want your help,” he says again.

His low, raspy voice is a turbulent current of water, pulling me under. However, it’s the haunting, desperate look in his eyes that’s my undoing.

whimper when he stills. “Phoenix. Please.” His coarse voice snaps like a whip. “If you want it…” A sharp breath leaves me when he winds my ponytail around his fist and tugs. “Then take it.”

The sex might have been fake, but the pain was real.

He eyes me and Skylar. “And you two are sneaking off to go braid each other’s hair and cry.”

I told myself not to pursue you. I told myself not to get attached to you. I used to joke that I’d never have a broken heart because that would require me having one of those to begin with and my mom took it with her when she left.

The sun can’t shine when it gets too dark. I drop a kiss to her shoulder blade. But the moon can. Which is what Lennon is for me.
