So long as blood flowed in Ketahn’s veins, so long as breath filled his lungs, so long as his hearts beat, he was for Ivy.
“Come then, Fang,” he growled, “and have the threads of your fate severed.”
“I am happy. I am full of pride. I am full of love. For Ivy Foster is my mate, and no one on any world can claim such fortune.”
His low chitter was absolutely devilish. “My little mate means to claim me?”
“You are bound, my luveen. You are conquered.” “I am yours, my nyleea,”
“You are mine, Ketahn. You will always be mine.”
“One more heartbeat without you in my eyes would bring my death, my heartsflame.”
“Ah, my heartsthread. You speak of beauty out there, yet I see only you, outshining even the sun.”
“You are mine. My luveen, my heartsthread, my everything.”
“You are mine, Ivy,” he growled. “I claim you, now and forever.”
“Beg me, Ivy,” he rasped, letting his breath flow over her sex again. “Beg me for pleasure.”
“You are mine.” She dipped a hand into the paint and pressed it over his hearts, which thumped harder beneath her touch. “Hearts.” She moved her hand down, placing it just over his slit and making his claspers stir. “Body.” Now she coated both hands in paint and lifted them, cupping each side of his face. “Spirit. You and I are as one, Ketahn.”
“We are as one, my nyleea.”
“You will come back to me,” she said firmly. “I will, my heartsthread. You have my word. My vow. My promise. For you, I would stand alone against the Eight. I would find a way to cross the blackness between the stars. Nothing will keep me from you.”
“My mother carried this weapon against Takarahl, as did I. It thirsts for Zurvashi’s blood.” Ketahn tapped a knuckle against his headcrest. “It shall drink well this day.”
“I cannot help you. No one can. If we do, it will become war. But say the word, sister, and I will battle them all for you.”
By your eightfold eyes—or the eyes of any god that will listen—see my mate through this safely. Or I will tear apart this world and every other to avenge her.
“You took what was mine.” “Ketahn chose the better female.”
“My foolish, brave, spirited mate. My queen. You did it.”
