At the time, she didn’t understand her sudden desire to leave them alone, or even, necessarily, her desire to go on this trip at all. Now, she recognizes these instincts as not strictly her own, but rather belonging to some cosmic hand, guiding her towards a state of being that she couldn’t have accomplished through her conscious volition.
