“We?” My eyebrows hit my hairline. “I already lost one of my children. I’ll be damned if I lose another.”

She nods, choking back a sob. “Be careful.”

“You think you’re so much better than me. But look at yourself. How can you betray the woman you care for, sneaking behind her back while you play footsie under the table?” Fuck. “What are you talking about?”

I’m so enraged, I can’t see straight. Colors around me blur together as a lightheadedness takes over. I don’t know what to say, what to do to fix this.

“No!” I shriek. “What did you do?” Elliot grins. “It’s nice to finally meet you, Evangeline.” I grip Graham’s face. “Graham, stay with me. Open your eyes. Look at me.” Graham’s eyelids droop as he fights to keep them open. “Get ... away ... from him,” he rasps.
