Grace is more than just leniency and unconditional acceptance.
Grace is God’s aggressive pursuit of, and stubborn delight in, freakishly foul people. And
reading the Bible theologically means that we look first and foremost at what the passage teaches us about God. What is God doing? How is God revealing Himself?
You can’t make God love you. God loves you because of who He is and because of what Christ has done. His love is not based on what you do, or what you don’t do.
obedience, rather, was the natural—or supernatural—by-product of God’s grace.
Lack of obedience reveals a lack of grace. Divine grace produces the obedience God demands.
When we obey, that’s evidence of God’s work in us.
When we obey, it’s not so much that we respond to His grace but that we are living out our new identity in Him.
when people are connected to Christ through faith, they produce obedience.
