Much as Stanley Kubrick inspired a young Yann LeCun in the late ’60s, Ridley Scott had captured the imagination of a young Hassabis in the early ’80s with this latter-day sci-fi classic, in which a scientist and his imperious corporation build machines that behave like humans.
