She wasn’t into cringe humor, and she didn’t like the idea of making a fool of yourself to get laughs or get views.

He didn’t believe that life was just getting a job you hated and working really hard at it so you could earn enough money to have periodic fun. That was bullshit.

It’s a step, she told herself. A big deal. She knew that she always did this. She never celebrated her successes—she just shifted gears and looked for the next big thing. It was never good enough to hit a milestone. She needed to keep moving toward the horizon.

He didn’t have to be unhappy, trying to prove himself to people who weren’t going to get it.
