“Did you think you could stop me?” Power shot from me, smacking into the door behind Dawson, blowing it off the hinges and into the house. “I’ll burn the world down to save her.”
That was my Kitten, claws and all.
As we headed to another elevator, he was glued to my hip. “As close as you’re riding me, man, I feel like I need to take you out to dinner or something. At least I should get your name.”
I caught the tear with a kiss. “And I’m not going to let you do this by yourself. You’re my—you’re my everything, Kat.” At the sound of her soft inhale, I smiled again. “Come on, Kitten, did you really expect anything less from me? I love you.”
There was a pause, and I felt his heart rate kick up. Mine quickly matched his. “I love you,” he said, voice gruff. “I love you more than anything.”
My light reflected off her cheeks, giving her a rosy glow. She was beautiful, and I was so, so desperately in love with her. Her chin jerked up, and she sucked in a breath, eyes widening. Okay, I may have actually thought that last bit at her. You did. A small smile split her lips. I liked hearing it. A lot.
“Baby, I’m so far up the ladder there aren’t any pegs under me to be knocked down.”
I’d take out an army, burn down an entire city, and throw the world into chaos if I had to in order to keep Kat out of that place.
“Look at what I got.” He dug into his bag and pulled out an extraterrestrial highway shirt. “We can be soul twins now.”
“We came all this way to rush in and save your ass, but then you end up saving your own ass before we could do anything.” Dee popped her hands on her hips, and her chin was tipped up stubbornly. “Way to steal our thunder and glory, Daemon.”
Six feet and a lot of inches of alien stiffened behind me. Oh dear.
“I love you, Kitten.” Another deep, scorching kiss lit up my insides. “And I’m going to show you just how much I love you.”
I want to get to know every freckle and every curve on a personal level.” “I think you did that last night.” “Nah.” He shook his head. “That was just a meet and greet. I want to know their hopes and dreams.”
