Those who deny Christ’s lordship and mercy continue to belong to Him: it is objectively the case that He made them and preserves them, even when they vainly devote their lives to creating and sustaining themselves. Their identity is grounded in their personhood, even when they run themselves ragged seeking to cultivate a public image.
