“I’d prefer that you acted normal for a change.” The mamba pursed her lips. “Sounds like that’d take some effort on my part. I don’t like effort. Count me out.”
Bailey gaped. “Son of a bitch. We totally need to dig out the tire iron.” Aspen dug her nails into the arms of the chair. “And also the claymore.” Corbin’s brow furrowed. “You have a claymore?” “You don’t?” asked Bailey. His frown deepened. “No.” “Huh,” said the mamba. “Well that’s weird.” “No, Bailey, it’s not. I’d say most people don’t own a claymore,” he told her. “That’s a problem they should rectify. Swords often come in handy. As do bullwhips.” “You have a bullwhip?” “You don’t?”
If you were Bailey, there’d be an endless number of potential suspects—she angers people like there’s a reward for it.” “Their anger is my reward,” said Bailey.
“You don’t like most things.” “I like you.” “Aw, that was sweet,” said Bailey, glancing at him via the rearview mirror. “You like me, too, right?” Camden eyed her for a few seconds. “You have your moments.” The mamba smiled. “I’ll take what I can get.”
“Aw Randy, when it comes to your opinion, I could swallow ten boxes of laxatives and still fail to give a shit.”
Grant thrust his hand through his hair. “When I saw how close you and Aspen were, I had a feeling you’d be a problem. Look, I get that she’s your friend. I won’t try to come between you.” Camden snorted. “You say that as if you could.” It was almost amusing. Almost. “No one could.”
“You could never lose me.” “You say that now—” “Because it’s true. You’re … part of me. The best part. There is no way I could exist in this world and not be wherever you are.”
“So, is he good or what?” “I am so not discussing this with you.” “Why not? I tell you guys about my sexy times.” “And we often wish you didn’t.” Bailey sighed. “You’re still disturbed by that human guy sucking my toes, aren’t you?”
She’s not at the center of your world. She is your world.
