He stood with the goal of greater life before him.13 The fancy term for this is eschatology. Eschatology is often associated with the end of the world. This is valid, but eschatology is a rich concept that applies much more extensively to the teaching of Scripture as a whole. Eschatology is quite important for understanding law and covenant, for covenants have in view a final goal.
