Many of us have become habitual overthinkers because it gives us the illusion that we’re doing something about the problem we’re overthinking about.
You start thinking even more about the thing you were worried about.
genetic predisposition + stressful precipitating events = overthinking.
Overthinkers have an advantage over others: they are usually intelligent, aware, and able to take beneficial action for themselves—if only they are able to acknowledge that overthinking is not working for them anymore.
Stress is a fact of life, but overthinking is optional!
Communicate your needs and feelings directly, rather than suffering in silence.
4 A’s of stress management. These are avoid, alter, accept, and adapt. Avoiding things entails simply walking
Overthinkers can sometimes have problems with being over responsible.
Set up feedback loops. In the business world, this is called “fail fast and fail often,”
“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
A big problem for overthinkers is the tendency to take our own word for it!
We do not become better at working with our emotions by learning to push them away,
