The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for, and to return kindness.
Have a safe trip home this afternoon, don’t walk in front of a bus or anything.
I’m looking for someone who is only one color, but not one size. Stuck at the bottom, yet easily flies. Present in sun, but not in rain. Doing no harm, but feeling no pain.
“I’m faking it till I make it, and if you’re with me, so are you.”
If I don’t look pretty, nobody will notice me . . . and my heart can never get broken again.
“Send two ambulances,” I bark. “I’m about to have a fucking heart attack myself.”
“All the better. Ask for a raise while you’re giving him head. Get a two-for-one bonus.”
“I want you, Kate.” He softly bites my ear and goosebumps scatter up my arm. “I want you underneath me.”
Is that a bad thing? No. But what? I want more. More of what? If I knew I would have found it.
“You know, you would think that when your parents get divorced the shit show stops. But no . . . they get new fuckwit partners and you get to have a double shit show with whipped cream and extra topping.”
I mean, isn’t the point of seeing someone about having fun, going to places, and getting to know each other? If I’m not going to be seeing anyone else, don’t I want to be with someone who’s proud to be with me?
If it could happen to them, it could happen to anyone.
There is nothing worse than pretending to be happy when you’re dying a little inside.
Elliot Miles fucks like he does business, hard and unapologetic.
The high will be worth the fallout . . .
Elliot Miles is a heartbreak waiting to happen.
We kiss and hold each other and, with an intimacy I’ve never known, she takes me. And holds me. And ruins me forever.
I’m not interested in this game. I’m tired of it already.”
“Don’t tempt you to go back to her? Be my fucking guest, Elliot. I dare you,”
“Well, I don’t want to be your unpaid fucking prostitute any longer. If you’re ashamed to be seen with me in public, don’t see me in private.”
“El,” I whimper. “I know, baby.” He kisses me with his eyes closed. The emotion between us is palpable. A tangible force that we no longer control. This is special. He is special. Elliot Miles is everything I never knew I needed, and regardless of our differences I can’t deny it. I am utterly and irrevocably in love with him.
“You have something special with her; grab onto it with both hands and don’t let go.”
I’m fucked if I do, and fucked if I don’t.
“What do you think about when you look at me like that?” I drop my head and smile shyly. “It’s not so much a look, as a feeling.”
Hello darkness, my old friend.
How could I possibly feel physical pleasure when I’m in such pain?
He went anyway.
I’ll just wait until everyone goes to bed, it’s easier that way.
“You did it, the moment you got on that fucking plane. It is over. I’m nobody’s second prize, Elliot.”
