Never make a deal with the devil. He always wins in the end.
“You don’t have to huddle away from me, stellina. I’m not going to hurt you—yet.”
I’m not a nice man. This isn’t a fairy tale. No one is coming to save you. The sooner you realize that the easier things will be for you.”
His dark hair is slicked back, and his eyes are menacing, even early in the morning. I wonder if he goes to bed and plans to be an evil monster every day or if something made him this way?
“I know what you’re good for,” he whispers so softly I barely hear him. It’s the whisper of a beloved, a lover, the devil.
“Now, when my girl gets here, and make no mistake, she is mine, we can have a real chat.”
“I drugged you at dinner and sold you to Diavolo to pay some of my gambling debts.”
“You can pretend all you like, stellina. Yes, in some ways, you may hate me, but you don’t hate the way it feels when I touch you. In fact, I’m thinking you like it.”
His face is a picture of innocence. The same face the devil makes right before he claims your soul.
“You keep fighting me with every word you throw my way. But next time, remember your body knows exactly what you want and what only I can give you if you obey so sweetly.”
“A word of advice on that front. Don’t attack the man who has the power to break you.
“I told you last night, I love it when you fight. But there’s a difference between fighting for your life and fighting for your pleasure. This is the difference. Do you see it now?”
“I don’t have to kill you to keep you in line. Remember that. Pain is a powerful motivator for anyone, especially a princess who has never had a real taste of it.”
“What were you two ladies talking about?” I shrug and give him a little smile. “The usual. Lipstick, hair products, destroying the patriarchy.”
“Whatever revenge he gets by selling me won’t help him and won’t make him feel better when he’s finished. I’ll just be another mark on his conscience, another scar he’ll never be able to erase.”
“It’s rude to stare, stellina. Tell me what you want, what you were going to offer my brother, and maybe I’ll give it to you. Use your big girl words.”
“As a princess, you stand for everything I hate, everything I want to destroy. As mia stellina, you shine bright, and I want to do nothing but worship every inch of your body.”
I don’t bother hiding my smile. “You are so fucking beautiful when you beg for what you want.” Her eyes drop to mine, surprise and pleasure etched in every line. “You’re beautiful when you make me beg.”
“You’re playing with fire, princess,” he growls. If fire feels this good, then it can burn me to ash.
When I told her love is a weakness, I meant it. The only good use for it is manipulation. Nothing works better than a person’s love for another to ensnare them.
“I thought maybe that you had a soul. Obviously, I was mistaken. You’re the devil, a heartless, cruel, asshole, devil. You are no better than my father.”
