“Forgiveness is the most difficult undertaking.”
“If you can’t eat chocolate cake for breakfast, what is the point of being alive?”
Seeing has little to do with opening your eyes; it’s what you feel inside that counts, it’s what you know without anyone telling you.
You can hope that the following generations will be immune to whatever plagued their ancestors, you can do your best to keep your children safe, but you can’t entirely change their fate. The only ones with the potential for doing so are the individuals in question themselves, according to the choices they make.
Life all happened so quickly; people tell you it will, but you won’t believe it until it happens to you. Cry all you want, being young will slip through your hands and you will be left standing there, you who were once so young, not recognizing yourself or your life.
Words were everything, stories were more powerful than any weapon, books changed lives.
reading and writing gave power, and power was what had been so often denied to women.
A woman with knowledge, one who could read and write, and who spoke her own mind had always been considered dangerous.
It was funny how you could come to love people who began as strangers, how they could change your fate, how surprised you could be by how grateful you were.
Read as many books as you can. Choose courage over caution. Take time to visit libraries. Look for light in the darkness. Have faith in yourself. Know that love is what matters most.
