According to Jung’s metaphysics, the physical world outside, just like intense nightly dreams, is also a psychic expression organized according to archetypal patterns. We inhabit an experiential universe embodying archetypal semantics. As such, waking life is in many ways akin to a dream and thus symbolic, non-literal, amenable to interpretation.
