it's not his fault he introduced them. and he didn't know when he said Jimmy was a good guy, why would she leave? she didn't explain herself, and he just saw his mom being skittish from dating after not doing so for eighteen years. neither of those things are his fault. what is his fault is he never checked on her. never talked to her. ignored her calls and didn't notice till her abuser was dead. he doesn't deserve to be given absolution for those things. he needs to pay his penance
