As a speech therapist, I never quite understood how difficult it would be for parents to hop on board with introducing a new AAC system to their child. I could only see the immense opportunities for learning and communication that it would open up. I expected parents to be thrilled by the potential. But most of the time, they were apprehensive and tentative. They had likely spent years with their current system and had already put so much mental energy into learning it.
