“Are you ET?” Luc chuckled. “I’m way hotter than ET.
“I like this,” he said, kissing my next finger.
“I like that you’re involving me in something you like to do.”
“If Kat lost all her memories tomorrow and she didn’t know who she was or who I was, it wouldn’t change a damn thing about how I feel for her. I would still love her just as much as I did the day before.”
“But you kissed me and…” He dropped his hands as he tilted his face to the sun, eyes closed. “It broke me in a way I didn’t even know you could be broken.”
“And you lost me,” I whispered. “I lost you.” “Did we lose each other?” he asked,
“I miss you when you’re not here, Peaches.”
“I miss you.”
“By the way, just going to remind you that you told me last night you missed me.” I had. “I must’ve been high.” “On my presence.”
“You,” he spoke. “It’s only ever been you. Before. Now. Later. There’s been no one else. There … just can’t be.”
“Real strength does not exist in muscles or deadly skill. It exists in your ability to pick yourself up and keep going after the shit hits the fan. That’s strength.”
“That is my friend who almost died in there, and that is my friend,” I said, pointing to Zoe, “who will be risking her life. So, if you don’t have anything of value to add, how about you shut the hell up?”
“I want you so badly it hurts to breathe sometimes.”
If I kiss you, if I touch you again, I will not be able to go back to the way things are now.” The next breath he took trembled as much as I was. “I won’t be able to pretend that you aren’t my everything.”
I’m needy when it comes to affection—your affection—and I’ve been starving for it.”
“I don’t care what you call me as long as you call me yours.”
“Just because I don’t show it doesn’t mean I don’t feel it.” He swallowed then, and his voice lowered. “I haven’t done this at all, Peaches. I’ve never been in a relationship or held a hand before I held yours. I’ve done things with others, but you are my first … my first in a lot of things. How could I not be nervous?”
“Don’t be afraid.” The tips of his fingers touched my cheek. “Never with me.”
“I said you’re beautiful when you’re angry. And you’re beautiful just standing there. You’re even beautiful when you’re sad. And when you’re happy, you are breathtakingly beautiful.”
